North Devon District Hospital
Our Client is delivering a large overall energy saving contract to Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust. The trust provides acute and adult mental health services to 484,000 patients in Northern Devon, across more than 1,300 square miles.
The initial focus was on reducing demand, with a focus on lighting, controls, HVAC (pumps, fans), cooling, pipe-insulation and transformer-optimisation.
Watertite were selected to Design, Supply and install new 450kw roof top chiller plant and associated pipework, to supply the 11 Operating Theatres at a live hospital. The new chiller would take over the “lead” and the old existing chiller plant was later refurbished and remains operational as a standby/back-up.
Watertite acted as Principal Contractor and were responsible for the civils, structural steel works and cranage operations required. The success of this project, led on to Watertite undertaking a series of additional smaller projects at NDDH including replacing the main heating pumps with new inverter driven energy efficient ones and works at 3 smaller hospitals across the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust region.
