Historic

Many of the structures where Watertite operates hold profound historical significance. While mechanical and electrical installations can occur in any setting, there's a unique appeal to working within the confines of esteemed buildings such as Sherborne Castle, Highgrove House, and St John’s Church. The rich tapestry of history woven into these buildings amplifies the delicacy of our tasks within them.

The complexities presented by historic and traditional buildings are numerous and diverse. However, the primary consideration in any restoration endeavour is the priority to safeguard the building, along with its often-valuable contents, for the future. This often requires innovative solutions and in-depth surveys to meticulously plan installations and pre-empt site restrictions.

Following a successful Renewable Project in the Function Room at the Highgrove House in 2007, we were invited back to to considerably extend the scheme in Their Royal Highnesses drive for carbon neutrality. A particular challenge was moving the hot water generated from a bespoke remote plantroom via the 250 metres of pre-insulated below ground pipework and into the main house. The parkland and grounds had to be excavated and reinstated with planned routes agreed with the Home Office, HRH and His Estates Staff.

Watertite also had the pleasure of working at Sherborne Castle, a 16th-century Tudor mansion privately owned by the Digby family for over 400 years. The original heating system dated back to the early 1900s. Watertite's project at Sherborne Castle spanned 3 phases over a 3 year period and involved stripping down and flushing through the old radiators and heating service, installing new 2-port solenoid valves to be controlled via humidity controlled thermostats located within each room.

In assuming responsibility for both installation and maintenance within these historic buildings and grounds, Watertite earns the trust of our clients, a testament to our commitment and diligence in our chosen environments.
